Out of all the posters produced at this time, the film posters were "artistically the most exciting, advanced, and original" and this book revives many of them, some by well known artists and some by unknown ones. There are fifty-six posters in black and white, sixteen posters in full color, seventeen film stills and other illustrations along with a bibliography and an index which contains brief bibliographical sketches of the artists.
